Description: Newly available for sale from our Brighton showroom is this exceptionally elegant 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL ‘Pagoda’ Automatic, finished in a beautiful period champagne/gold exterior with contrasting black interior. The W113 is one of Mercedes-Benz’s most celebrated designs. Penned under Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi, its distinctive concave removable hardtop gave rise to the now universally recognised ‘Pagoda’ nickname. This example is a particularly desirable factory right-hand-drive automatic, with chassis number 113043 22 002259 confirming its 250 SL specification. Produced for only a brief period between the 230 SL and 280 SL, just 5,196 examples of the 250 SL were manufactured worldwide. Power comes from Mercedes-Benz’s 2.5-litre fuel-injected straight-six, producing approximately 148bhp and paired with the four-speed automatic transmission. The result is the smooth, effortless driving character for which these cars remain so highly regarded. The exterior presents attractively in its period champagne/gold finish, complemented by extensive chrome brightwork, colour-coded wheel trims and the unmistakable upright W113 headlights. The car is also accompanied by its iconic removable Pagoda hardtop. Inside, the cabin retains a wonderful period atmosphere, with black upholstery, slender Mercedes steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, centrally mounted analogue clock, chrome switchgear and attractive timber detailing across the dashboard and centre storage console.
